Hello! My name is Jordana. I attended Indiana University where I earned a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in special education. I am now over the “20+ years of teaching” group, and have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and special education, all of which have brought so much value to my classroom.
Teaching is no joke. It is hard. And the demands that are placed on educators are varied, numerous, and exhausting. I was constantly trying to just stay above water my first 7 years of teaching. I had to do better. That’s when I put my feet on the ground, got organized, and started refining the state curriculum I was teaching. I joined our district curriculum team and before long, I was presenting to other districts. Through this page, I hope to provide you with fun lesson ideas, differentiated materials, teacher tips, management strategies, and much more that has directly impacted my personal classroom!
After 15 years of teaching, I was finding it difficult to meet the needs of all my students in ONE resource, with a similar appearance, on a teacher’s salary. This is when Elementary Island was born! Surely, if I needed a one-stop shop for ALL my students, other teachers were looking for the same things… right?!?
I love being able to share my creativity and resources with teachers all over the world! Making a difference in teachers’ personal lives and students’ academic successes in and out of my classroom is so rewarding. I also enjoy finding tips and tricks that will make my life (and hopefully yours) a little easier in the classroom!
