Are you looking for something EDUCATIONAL to keep your students engaged during those few weeks before Christmas break? This Christmas math activity will review common 2nd grade math skills and incorporate a descriptive writing that will have the students begging for another hunt!

Students will need to answer questions placed around the room, either individually or in pairs (I suggest pairs), to help them find the elf hiding in the room. But the fun isn’t over there! Once found, the students will need to write a descriptive writing based on the elf they found. The fun comes in when the class tries to guess which elf is the students’ based on the writing. Can they find the elf out of the mix?
My students have a blast with this activity and yours will too! They are up and moving, working together, “hunting” elves, and using their writing skills to help locate their elf!
NOTE: ***Elves must be found either under a trashcan or on a teacher’s desk. If you do not have these available, these two games will not work for you. If you have one available, only 1 game will work for you, HOWEVER you can use the 2nd set of cards for wrong answers so the students have a 2nd chance to get it correct.
